Telemarketers: Need Leads? Read This

I have been in the telemarketing business for about a year now, and at first I hated it. It can be so difficult to make a sale, and my previous experience in sales wasn’t much help. This is due tot he fact that when you are face to face you have a distinct advantage, while over the phone it can be hard to convince anyone to do anything. But I found a saving grace that might help you as well.
I was looking on a forum, and I say someone talking about having just finished up another page of lottery leads. They claimed to have made an 80% sales target from that one list alone, which sounded too good to be true. But after talking to this guy for awhile, I started to hope I might be able to have the same result.
I went on Google, found a few websites offering magazine leads, and I tried it for myself. I ended up with a list of hardcopy numbers that cost me about $40, but ended up making me $500 in commissions alone. From there I bought a longer list, and I doubled that, and then tripled it. I really got the hang of using these lists for my maximum benefit.
Since then (this was only eight months ago) I have been promoted, and I am considered one of the top sellers on my floor. But it all has to do with having a real target base to draw from, rather than anything I have changed in my approach.
