Consumer Trends in Watches and Jewelry

Consumers are getter smarter and smarter, and it’s amazing how much the canny consumer is saving. One way of achieving the superstar look without paying for one is through replica goods and watches. For example, you could buy a replica women’s Rolex for about two hundred dollars, or you could pay several thousand dollars for the real thing. Only the experts would be able to tell them apart, and in terms of accuracy, well if anything, the replica Rolex watches are sometimes more accurate than the original due to the way their machinery and quartz crystals are calibrated. Originally, Swiss watches were more accurate than anything else due to the precision engineering of their components. However, quartz crystals finished that. By measuring the vibrations of their crystals accurately, anyone could make a watch accurate to millionths of a second per year. Swiss watches lost that edge of accuracy as they were still using mechanical pieces which were subject to tiny atmospheric changes, unlike quartz which remains the same no matter what temperature or pressure.
Most of the replica watches out there use exactly the same materials and alloys as the real thing, but made in Japan by skilled engineers instead of the similarly skilled engineers in the stupendously expensive Switzerland. This is why a replica Rolex costs about $150, compared to the genuine item which would cost at about $7000 if using the same metal strap.
So with on obvious difference, it isn’t surprising that the smart money today is on the replicas over the real ones.
